Ingredients for making the Peshawari Namkeen Gosht Recipe:

To get the most out of your dish, make sure you have all of these ingredients. 

  • 500 grams mutton (goat meat), cut into medium-sized pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, for garnish
  • Lemon wedges for serving
  • Cooking oil, as needed

Instructions for making Peshawari Namkeen Gosht:

Step 1:

To begin with, heat oil in a deep, heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat. After that, add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Step 2:

Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for a minute until the raw smell disappears. Next, add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala.

Step 3:

Add the red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix it well and cook for a couple of minutes to incorporate the flavors.

Step 4:

Add the mutton pieces to the pan and mix them with the masala, ensuring they are coated well. Afterwards, cover the pan and cook on low heat for about 1.5 to 2 hours or until the meat is tender and cooked. Keep stirring occasionally to prevent sticking or burning.

Step 5:

Once the meat is tender, increase the heat to medium and cook uncovered for a few minutes to thicken the gravy. The end is near,now sprinkle garam masala and chopped green chilies over the dish and give it a quick stir.

Step 6:

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

For an added tangy touch, serve hot with naan or rice and lemon wedges on the side.

Some Handful Tips:
