Ingredients for making the Kashmiri Green Tea Recipe:

  •  4 cups water
  •  2 cups milk
  •  3 tablespoons loose green tea leaves
  •  4 green cardamom pods, crushed
  •  2 cloves
  •  1 cinnamon stick
  •  1/2 teaspoon baking soda (optional, for colour)
  •  Salt to taste
  •  Sugar to taste
  •  Crushed pistachios or almonds for garnish

How to make the Kashmiri Green Tea Recipe:

Step 1:

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a kettle or pot. Add the loose green tea leaves and continue boiling for 10-15 minutes, thus allowing the tea to brew thoroughly.

Step 2:

Now, add crushed green cardamom pods, cloves, and a cinnamon stick to the boiling tea. Allow the spices to infuse their flavours into the tea (this will take just a little while).

Step 3:

Pour 2 cups of milk, and continue simmering the tea on low heat. Stir occasionally to prevent the milk from sticking to the bottom.

Step 4:

For the distinctive pink color, add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. This step is optional but contributes to the characteristic hue of Kashmiri Tea. However, you will still get very good results anyhow.

Step 5:

Allow the tea to simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes, ensuring the flavours meld. Strain the tea to remove the tea leaves and whole spices.

Step 6:

Add sugar to taste, balancing the sweetness with a pinch of salt. Adjust according to your preference. But, try to balance both sugar and salt quantity.

Step 7:

Create a perfect froth for your tea by pouring from a height or using a beater. This adds to the visual appeal and texture of the tea.

Step 8:

Pour the tea into cups and garnish with crushed pistachios or almonds to make it look even better.
